Sargodha is located between the rivers Chenab and Jhelum and is called ‘Doab’. This
region is agriculturally rich. To meet the agricultural market needs an Agriculture
College has been established as an integral part of UOS. One of the major objectives
of this college is to introduce modern technology in the field of agriculture and
to literate common men related to the field of agriculture.

Introduction |
The Agriculture College was established
in October 2005 on the directive of President of Pakistan. Fifty students of both
genders were admitted on merit giving 50% seats to Sargodha region and rest to other
areas of Pakistan. The teaching faculty was arranged from In-Service Agricultural
Training Institute, Sargodha and from University of Sargodha. The main objectives
of the college are as under:
- Imparting high quality agriculture
and science education to students in identified disciplines at a standard identical
to accredited international standards thus catering for development and research
needs of agriculture in Pakistan
- Instruction will include the latest
developments in agriculture curriculum, teaching methodology and lab standards as
well as promoting effective R&D activities in the agriculture sector in line
with advances in the international as well as sister Institutions.
- Producing a trained and skilled
work force having a focus on innovation, value addition and entrepreneurship, capable
of employing knowledge inputs for the rapid and sustainable agricultural development
of Pakistan.
- The overall agriculture policy
focus is to raise productivity and profitability of the farming community enabling
the country to raise living standard of rural masses. The College will have initially

- Horticulture
- Plant Breeding, Genetics and Molecular
Biology
- Soil and Environmental Sciences
- Entomology
- Plant Pathology
- Agronomy
- Agricultural Economics and Marketing
- Animal Sciences
- Agro-forestry
- Agricultural Extension Education
